Water Plant Operator in Training

Salary

This position is full-time and includes full benefits.
The job grade is 10A and pays $1553.17 semi-monthly.
Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
Must possess a High School diploma or GED
Possess a Valid Texas Drivers License 
Ability to lift and move 50 – 100 pounds
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Must pass a State of Texas background check
Must be able to obtain a “C” Surface Water License from TCEQ within two (2) years.
Must have or be able to obtain a “D” Water Operator’s License within 12 months of hire date.
Must have strong math skills, computer knowledge, general knowledge of the operations of pumps, motors, chemical feed equipment, lab skills and knowledge of minor electrical repairs and trouble shooting.  This may consist of the use of an OHM meter for electrical trouble shooting.
Must be skilled in the operation of a tractor shredder and forklift.
Must be able to work overtime and on weekends on short notice.
Once water license is obtained there will be a mandatory on call rotation at the water treatment plant.  This will include after hours and on weekends to perform lab procedures on the weekend and emergency call outs for the plant and well field on short notice.  Must be able to arrive at Water Treatment plant within 20 minutes when on call.

Communications Officer (Police Department)

Salary

The job grade is an 11A ($1657.37 semi-monthly)
Working hours are rotating shifts

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas drivers license required
Must have good communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge
Keyboard, data entry input and retrieval, filing
Texas Crime Information Center/National Crime Information Center certification preferred,                      or be able to obtain certification within one year
911 call taker certification preferred or be able to obtain within one year

Salary

This position is part-time 
The job pays $7.50 per hour
Working hours will vary.

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral / written directions
Ability to read and write English
Valid Class C Texas Driver’s License

Ability to operate baler, forklift in a safe manner
Ability to perform work requiring strength and agility in all weather conditions for extended periods
Skill to identify composition of solid waste and materials

Salary

The salary is a grade 8A and pays $1364.01 semi-monthly
Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral / written directions
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum of one year of clerical experience typing, filing, and computer entry.
Must be able to communicate effectively and pleasantly with the public both verbally and in writing.
Must be experienced in  Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to learn to read maps and read and interpret codes and ordinances.

Police Entrance Exam-Test has been rescheduled for February 1, 2018

An entrance examination to establish a hire list for the City of Sweetwater Police Department will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. at the City of Sweetwater Police Dept. Training Room located at 400 E Ave A.  Late arrivals will not be admitted.  Those who pass the written examination will have further testing that afternoon.  Applications will be accepted through the Texas Workforce Center office located at 1105 Bell St. or you may request an application by e-mailing Lisa Adames – ladames@coswtr.org.  All applications must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 22, 2018.

At present time there is one position available.


Qualifications
Applicants must be 21 years old with a maximum age of 44 years.  Documentation must be            provided. 
Must be high school graduate or have equivalent GED. 
Must possess a valid Texas Driver’s License and have a satisfactory background driving                    record and pass a background investigation.
Must be able to read and write the English language.
Must be a citizen of the United States.
Preferably possess certification as a peace officer as established by Texas Commission on                Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) at time of examination.                      Applicant shall provide evidence of certification on or before date of entrance examination.
If applicant served in the armed forces of the United States, a DD-214 must be produced                with application.
Must be physically sound free from any defect, which may adversely affect his/her                          performance of duty. 
The resulting hire list will be effective for six months.

Mechanic

Salary

This position is full-time and includes full benefits.
The job grade is 13A and pays $1,887.21 semi-monthly
Working hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Qualifications

Ability to follow oral / written directions
Must possess a High School diploma or GED
Possess a Valid Texas Driver’s License 
Must have the ability to diagnose and correct vehicle/equipment defects.
Two or more years of responsible supervised work in automotive repairs required.
Ability to use and read diagnostic equipment to make repairs on computerized systems in              vehicles and equipment.
